- See at a glance whether good progress is being made using the visual flight path guides.
- Easy to compare a student's progress across many subjects taking into account their starting points.
- Works for all subjects, not just Maths & English.
- If your MIS includes a school target and an FFT estimate these are also included in the flightpath.
- If your MIS includes an indication of which students are being intervened with at teacher level or at school level, these are also included in the flightpath.
Flightpaths for a Y9 subject (English)
One document per subject organised into teaching groups so each teacher can have all the flightpaths for their class in a brief document. Each flightpath with colour coded indications of vulnerability.Easy to see which students are making good progress and what has happened in previous years.More...
- See at a glance whether good progress is being made using the visual flight path guides.
- Easy to pick out vulnerable students.
- Document useful for Heads of Department as well as teachers.
- If your MIS includes a school target and an FFT estimate these are also included in the flightpath.
- If your MIS includes an indication of which students are being intervened with at teacher level or at school level, these are also included in the flightpath.

The Swarm
Blog post about the Swarm
Includes ideas about how to compare your school with others in terms of national performance and how to use the Swarm.
Achievement Analysis
Whole school analysis (results or tracking predictions)
One document available before the start of the academic year, analysing all the key whole school indicators for immediate self-evaluation including a summary of subject performance. Perfect for immediate post-results review. More...
- 5 A*-C including English & Maths, 5A*-C, capped points score and English Bacc performance compared to FFT estimates (A, B & D).
- Easy colour-coding when performance is below FFT-B (red) or above FFT-D (green).
- All vulnerable groups analysed in the same detail- boy/girls, FSM/non-FSM, Pupil Premium/non-PP, SEN, prior KS2 attainment, Looked After.
- Every group has an indication of how many more pupils would be needed to get the school performance to FFT-D estimate level
- Summary table of all GCSE subjects for A*-C, A*-A and average points, all compared against FFT-B & FFT-D, with an indication of statistical significance for the subject residual
- Transition matrices for English & Maths for 3+ and 4+ levels of progress simply colour-coded for comparison against national medians.
- A series of box & whisker plots illustrating performance of vulnerable groups.
Subject analysis (results or tracking predictions)
One document available before the start of the academic year, analysing all the key indicators so subject leaders and senior staff can evaluate with no further work.>Perfect for immediate post-results review and for performance management of subject leaders. More...
- Subject statistics for A*-C, A*-A and mean points compared to national levels and FFT estimates (A, B & D).
- Easy colour-coding when performance is below FFT-B (red) or above FFT-D (green).
- All vulnerable groups analysed in the same detail- boy/girls, FSM/non-FSM, Pupil Premium/non-PP, SEN, prior KS2 attainment, Looked After.
- For English & Maths, analysis of % of students making 3+ and 4+ in the style of transition matrices and simply colour-coded for comparison against national medians.
- Analysis of each teaching group for A*-C, A*-A and mean points against FFT-B and FFT-D estimates, again with easy colour coding. This includes residuals for mean points and whether they are statistically significant or not.
- A series of box & whisker plots illustrating performance of vulnerable groups.

Target Setting
Pupils' documents
A pdf file with a page for each pupil showing FFT-D estimates for 24 common GCSE subjects. Excellent for involving students in target-setting and for form tutors to refer to. More...
- Each page is double sided and contains aspiration charts for 24 common GCSE subjects.
- The form tutor can keep a copy for review periods and the student can take a copy for their target-setting meetings.
- Aspiration Charts are usually based around FFT-D estimates (top 25% of similar schools), but you can request more challenging ones e.g. top 15%, 10% of 5% of similar schools.
Teachers' documents
Every subject has a pdf file containing aspiration charts for each teaching group. Students (or teachers!) who don't work well with numbers find the charts easier to deal with. More...
- Easy to provide each teacher with the charts for the pupils they are teaching.
- Target-setting meetings between teacher and pupil are on an equal basis - both have access to the same high quality easy to understand information.
- These would be based around the same level of challenge as the pupil documents - usually FFT-D but you can request more challenge.
Summary estimates for school, subjects & teaching groups
One document analysing FFT estimates for each subject and each teaching group within each subject to give you all the things you might need to set targets intelligently. Use in setting subject performance targets, or in performance management meetings. More...
- Subject summary table with FFT-A, -B and -D estimates for A*-C, A*-A and average points
- For English & Maths, estimates of % of students making 3+ and 4+ levels of progress at FFT-B and FFT-D for whole cohort and by teaching group
- For all subjects, estimates of % of students gaining A*-C & A*-A and average points, calculated with FFT-B and FFT-D estimates - including breakdown by teaching groups
